Montesecondo

Categories: ,

Montesecondo is located in the northwestern corner of Chianti Classico, near the town of Cerbaia. It’s a small place with 11 hectares of vines. Silvio Messana practices biodynamic farming and natural, non-interventionist winemaking. His style is hands-off and traditional, never using additives, and allowing fermentation to naturally occur at its own pace by only indigenous yeast. Though Messana didn’t bottle his first wines until 2000, the vines on the property had been there since the 1970s, when his father had planted them.
