Born and raised on Tenerife in the Canary Islands, Eduardo Torres Acosta has volcanic islands in his blood. After a childhood growing up amid his family’s small plot of vines, Torres moved to Sicily for an internship with Arianna Occhipinti, and from there moved to the slopes of Mount Etna to work as a winemaker for the pioneering Andrea Franchetti at Azienda Passopisciaro. Today Torres is making his own wines, working just a few small parcels on Etna. The sites had been largely neglected, but they’re blessed with Etna’s unique lava ash soils and vines that are 50 years of age and older. Currently without a winery of his own, he harvests the grapes, then trucks them to Arianna Occhipinti’s winery to the south in Vittoria.
