Before they became one of the Loire’s most iconic husband-wife winemaking teams, Agnès and René Mosse owned a wine bar in Tours. Encouraged by the many local vignerons whose wine they poured, the pair studied viticulture and oenology, interned and worked in Burgundy, and eventually bought their own estate in 1999. Their work in the vines has been organic from the get-go, and work in the cellar is similarly natural: minimal intervention and no use of additions aside from a touch of sulfur. Today, René is retired, but Agnès still works with sons Sylvestre and Joseph, both of whom are fully committed to continuing with the domaine’s fully natural approach.
