Set in the rugged, isolated mountains west of Madrid, this young-old estate was planted in 1923, but war intervened and the vineyard went unexploited for decades. Fast-forward to 2006, when two of the founder’s great-grandchildren brought the property back to life, built on a foundation of Garnacha vines that were now more than 80 years-old. With help from Raúl Pérez, the estate has been cultivated organically, with the focus on emphasizing the brilliant fruit that comes from such a cool, high-altitude environment. In the winery, the rule is minimal intervention, so that the granitic terroir can shine through.
