Founded in 1985, La Val has been at the forefront of winemaking in Rias Baixas from the beginning, including the estate’s work to help create the DO itself in 1988. La Val’s two most important vineyards, Finca Arantei and Finca Taboexa, sites set on clayey, alluvial terroir and decomposed granite. The 30+ year-old vines are trained on high pergolas to allow airflow below and between the branches and reduce the need for sulfur and copper treatments. La Val’s vineyard designate bottling for Finca Arantei is among the most decorated wines in Rias Baixas.
