Few names carry as much weight in the wine world as Conterno. Founded in the 1920s by Giacomo Conterno, the estate has made some of the most iconic wines of Barolo ever since. The principal site for the wines is the great Cascina Francia, with the Cerretta and Arione crus added in the 21st Century. In excellent vintages, it is from Francia that the Barolo Riserva Monfortino is made, a wine that many would argue is the single greatest Barolo.
