Few new domaines in the Loire have generated as much excitement as Domaine des Closiers. There’s a lot to rave about, from the domaine’s excellent terroir and many sloped climats, to the old (for the region) vines, to the huge amounts invested in the vineyards and winery. But perhaps the most gasp-inducing aspect of Closiers came with the announcement of a single name: Nady. Brought to Closiers at its start in 2018, the year after Clos Rougeard was sold, Nady Foucault has been guiding the winemaking team, working to understand the terroir and sharing every bit of wisdom and experience he’s gained over the decades. With just two vintages released so far, it’s already clear that Domaine des Closiers is poised to become one of the most important estates in the region.
