Bucklin

We’re very excited to bring Will Bucklin’s wines to Colorado. These are some truly extraordinary wines, all from the Old Hill Ranch, the oldest Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma and a site that’s been continuously under vine since 1852. The Bucklins bought this site in 1981 and sold grapes to Joel Peterson for Ravenswood’s Old Hill Ranch Zin. Since that time, Bucklin and Ravenswood have been the only wineries to produce wine from the vineyard. The Old Hill Ranch isn’t named for being an actual old hill, though it is. The site was planted by William McPherson Hill in 1852 and still has his name attached to it. The Natural Wine Company team visited Will at the Old Hill Ranch in 2016 and came away incredibly impressed with both the vineyard and the man himself. The site is a crazy quilt of ancient vines, with each varietal needing to be tended to and harvested separately. A situation only a committed California terroirista like Will Bucklin could savor.
