Jamey Whetstone began his winemaking education at Turley Wine Cellars in 1998, continuing at Domaine Dujac in Morey St-Denis. Returning to California, Jamey continued to apprentice at Turley at the same time that he founded Whetstone Wine Cellars. In 2005 he left Turley to focus entirely on his own young winery.
The Jamey and Michelle Whetstone purchased the building that is now Whetstone Estate in February of 2011 and opened its doors to visitors in July of 2013. A 19th century French-style chateau houses the tasting salon and sits on two acres located at the base of Atlas Peak Road in Napa. The beautifully-landscaped grounds and historic Napa Valley building serve as the perfect backdrop for tastings and events.
Today the estate continues as a small, family-owned winery located in Napa Valley with a focus on varietal expression and cooler climate sites throughout Sebastopol, Green Valley, Annapolis, Petaluma, and Napa. Committed to sustainable farming and ensuring that the vineyard is expressed in the bottle. A “pure” presentation of place.
