George Davis established Porter Creek in 1979, a time when Sonoma winemaking was no-frills and Russian River Pinot Noir had a modest reputation at best. After cutting his teeth at Chambolle-Musigny’s Domaine Georges Roumier, son Alex Davis has now taken over at Porter Creek. Alex has converted the vineyards to biodynamics and continues to make wines of silken elegance and finesse, wrapped almost deceptively around a core of muscular power. Porter Creek is one of the best-kept secrets in Sonoma.
