An Approach to Relaxation began as a search for sand. Richard and Carla Rza Betts have a long-running love affair with Château Rayas, and through their many miles and many years of travel around the globe, they always kept their eyes open for the sandy terroir and relatively cool climate that make that benchmark Grenache so compelling.

That search came to an end in Vine Vale, where they discovered a 150+ year-old Grenache vineyard set on sandy soil and blessed with one of coolest microclimates in the Barossa Valley. From that tiny vineyard they make their Sucette Grenache; from an adjacent plot they make Nichon, a Semillon-Sauvignon blend grown from 60+ year-old vines and inspired by great whites like Château Haut Brion.
