The Natural Wine Company is owned by Tim Bowen. Mr. Bowen’s passion for wine began to develop while at the B.R. Guest Restaurant Group in New York City. He was first the wine buyer and then General Manager for several of the company’s popular restaurants; including Blue Water Grill, Blue Fin, Isabella’s and Park Avalon. He later became the Corporate General Manager responsible for Management Development and hospitality training overseeing several properties, but his favorite time was always spent teaching wine classes to the waitstaff. After restaurant life, he managed Chambers Street Wines, the country’s leading natural wine merchant located in Tribeca, in downtown New York City. While there he was responsible for several buying trips – to the Loire Valley and throughout Piedmont and Tuscany. It was during his time at Chamber Street that he was inspired to source excellent and affordable fine wine. While on a personal trip in the fall of 2009 to Piedmont, Mr. Bowen discovered several excellent small producers who were not currently available in the United States. This discovery led to the birth of the Natural Wine Company. Mr. Bowen had served as key account representative for Grand Vin, a fine wine distributor in Colorado. Prior to his time at Grand Vin, he was a sales representative for Polaner Selections in New York and New Jersey, a leading importer and distributor. Mr. Bowen has traveled extensively through the vineyards of France, Italy and California and is always eagerly planning the next trip.
